St. Jude Marathon Weekend

Gavin May headed to Alabama to take on the Pinhoti 100 mile trail race. With crewing assists from teammates Stephen Whatley, John Griffin, and Robert Tate, Gavin completed over 16K feet of elevation gain over the course of his 100-mile finish. Congratulations Gavin!
CHF Race for Hope 5K / 10K
2023-10-28
North Mississippi Endurance came out for the Chris Hope Foundation 5K and 10K. Several members competed and won awards, and our youth team swept the top three positions for their age bracket in the 5K! Additionally, several teammates staffed a water station for the 10K.

NME had a large turnout of runners at this year's Walking Tall 25K / 50K trail race at Big Hill Pond State Park. Teammate Sean Hilsdon is co-founder and co-director of this race, and our own John Griffin took 1st place in the 50K! Complete list of participants:

Also, for the 6th straight year, NME provided the aid station at the RR tracks, which provides runner assistance at miles 6.5, 9.6, 23, and 26.1. Staffing the station this year were team members Kathy Owens, Ben Owens, Anthony Lane, Reese Sisco, and Ricky Sisco.

NME team member April Hilsdon completed one of the Memphis area's popular annual races at the Navy 10 Nautical Miler in Millington.
Zoom Through the Zoo

This annual four-mile race through Overton Park and the zoo is a Memphis staple. Team members Gary Owens, Kathy Owens, and Sherry Rogers all participated and had a great race!
OneAmerica 500 Festival Half-Marathon

Hollie Trim continued her string of spring races with a great performance in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Half-Marathon in Indianapolis.
Dogs and Donuts 5 miler

Sherry Rogers ran the always fun Dogs and Donuts 5 miler, in which she had to eat a six donuts half way through the race!
Big Buffalo 50

The Big Buffalo event at Shelby Farms normally brings out a large contingent from the North Mississippi Endurance team, and this year was no different. The weather was beautiful, the course was slick, friends were plentiful, and the effort was amazing. Race participants were:

Devin Burgess headed up to Shelby County to tackle the ever popular Germantown Half Marathon. As usual, Devin made a strong showing for the North Mississippi Endurance team.
Into the Woods 30A 50K Relay

Team members Gary Owens, Kathy Owens, and Petey Elliotte ventured down to the Florida panhandle to participate in this 50K relay race. They all ran great and had a fun event together!
MRTC Winter Off-road Series 8K

Sandra Parker continued her strong showing in the MRTC Winter Off-road Series by taking 1st in her age category at the 8K race held at Stanky Creek. One more race left in the series! Can Sandra finish it out for the title!?
Village Creek 25K

Sandra Parker made the drive over to Village Creek State Park in Wynne, AR and took on the challenging course in the Village Creek 25K race. The trails were muddy, but Sandra made a great showing!
MRTC Winter Off-road Series 3K

Both Anthony Lane and Sandra Parker blistered the 3K course, Anthony in 12:42 and Sandra at 15:11. Sandra was first female in her age group.
Light Garden 5K

Sandra Parker, Donnie Chambliss, and Kevin Byrd braved frigid nighttime temperatures to complete the 1st Annual Light Garden 5K benefiting Make-A-Wish. Both Sandra and Kevin took 1st place in their respective age groups.
Tupelo Trail Shuffle

Gavin May and Dan Wolford took part in the 1st annual Tupelo Trail Shuffle in Trace State Park, and Gavin came home as the Overall winner!
Gateway to the Delta 10 Miler

NME team member Beth Little ran a great race at the Gateway to the Delta 10 Miler in Batesville, MS, which is directed by our teammate Stephen Whatley. Beth won 1st place in her age division!
Peer Power Big River Crossing Half Marathon

Ben Harrison grabbed a PR at the Peer Power Big River Crossing Half Marathon, which is the next-to-last race in the MRTC Road Race Series. Just one race left for Ben to complete the 10 race series.
Homerun for Habitat 5K

North Mississippi Endurance had a large presence at this year's Homerun for Habitat 5K in Southaven. Several members, including our youth team, competed and brought home awards, while many came out to staff the NME-provided hydration station for all race participants. Additionally, many of our members served on the race committee.

Mid-state Mile

NME team members Rachel Macagni and Dan Semore ventured over to the Nashville region and took on the brutal Mid-state Mile, a last-person-standing event where runners tackle over 300 feet of elevation gain per mile.
War Eagle 50K

The Keys 100

Team member Sandra Parker continued her selfless ways by flying to Miami to spend 24+ hours crewing and pacing a friend in the Florida Keys 100 mile race.
Coke 10K

Several team members went to Corinth, MS to participate in the 42nd running of the Coke 10K, one of the oldest continuously held races in Mississippi. Despite the warm and muggy conditions, everyone ran a great race. Sandra Parker brought home the first place trophy and prize for her age division. Those running were:

Hoof it for Heifer 20K

A large group of our team members ventured over to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas to take on the scenic Hoof it for Heifer 20K trail race. Petey Elliotte captured 1st place in the Grand Master category.

Georgia Death Race

Gavin May, John Griffin, and Dan Semore carried the banner for our state in the brutal Georgia Death Race. Contested in the wilds of north Georgia, GDR offers 70+ miles, 15K feet of elevation gain, and DNS/DNF's aplenty. All three acquitted themselves well, with John Griffin coming away with a top 10 finish!
MRTC Winter Off-road Series 10K

Sandra Parker completed the 4-race winter off-road series in the final 10K race at Shelby Farms. She took 3rd place in the female masters category and vowed to run only trails from now on. (Just kidding). For the combined 4-race winter off-road series, Sandra finished in first place in her age group.
Seaside Half Marathon

Stalwart Sam Renfrow visited the Florida panhandle and represented North Mississippi Endurance in the Seaside Half Marathon. Sam displayed the results of hard work and consistent training and ran an outstanding race!
MRTC Winter Off-road Series 5K

Anthony Lane and Sandra Parker completed leg 2 of the MRTC Winter Off Road Series, sloshing through a muddy 5K course at Johnson Park in Collierville, TN. Sandra took 2nd place age group, while Anthony led his son Jackson to a first place finish in the U10 category.
Swamp Stomper 25K / 50K

The team had a great day at Swamp Stomper 2023. John Griffin notched a podium finish with 3rd overall in the 50K, while Sean Hilsdon and Dan Wolford had outstanding showings in the 25K.
Hill & Dale 8 Miler

Team members Amanda Kimsey and Brian Swanson came out to race the undulating Hill & Dale 8-Miler at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. The course is difficult, but both were up to the challenge!

Grit and Guts Half Marathon

Sherry Rogers travelled to Mount Nebo State Park in Arkansas where she completed the Grit and Guts Half Marathon Trail Race.
Chick-fil-A 5K

Devin Burgess, Sandra Parker, and Tommy Bennett ran the last-ever edition of the Chick-fil-A 5K race. Tommy won 3rd in his age group, and Sandra was 1st in the masters division!

The Great American River Run

Multiple team members went downtown over Memorial Day weekend and ran this popular race. Four athletes ran successfully, with Gary and Kathy Owens completing the 10K, and Hollie Trim and Devin Burgess completing the half-marathon. Also, Sandra Parker participated as a volunteer on the finish line crew.

Lake Martin 100

Ultra veteran Beth Little added yet another 50 miler notch to her belt by competing in the Lake Martin event in Alabama. Battling through both thunderstorms and afternoon temperatures approaching 90 degrees, Beth once again inspired us with her endurance and tenacity!
LOViT 100

John Griffin completed his first 100 miler and absolutely dominated. With an amazing 40+ mile pacer assist from teammate Gavin May, John endured over 15K feet of elevation gain on his way to a top 10 finish!
Sylamore 50K / 25K

Sean Hilsdon travelled to central Arkansas and tackled the ever-popular Sylamore 50K. This was a big occasion for Sean, as this was his first 50K trail race after a long recovery from a major injury. It's great to have him back out at our favorite races again!
Mountain Mist 50K

Two of our trail titans, Gavin May and John Griffin, took on the Mountain Mist 50K in Huntsville, AL. They battled nearly 4000 feet of elevation gain and came away with two impressive sub-6 showings.
Swamp Stomper 25K / 50K

For the 4th year in a row, NME sponsored and staffed the turnaround aid station. A large contingent of team members came out to support the runners there.
Athens Big Fork Trail Marathon

Gavin May and Dan Semore conquered the brutal ABF Marathon in Arkansas this year, enduring over 7000 feet of elevation gain over the course of the race. A couple of trail beasts!

Arkansas Traveler 100

Team members April Hilsdon and Staci Thomas pulled off an incredible feat by completing this 100 mile race, enduring around 12 thousand feet of elevation gain over the course of 24+ hours and 100 miles. What an amazing accomplishment for these two!
